First Entry For Member "Village Home" Contest

1. Box of Crayons
This is the first entry received in the Village Home Member Contest.  The member says that she was inspired by a quote from Robert Fulghum "We could learn a lot from crayons, some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box", and a verse from the Shane DeRolf children's book "The Crayon Box That Talked".
The name will be kept confidential until the results of the contest are announced.  For information about the contest, CLICK HERE.  Entries must be received by November 15, 2014.

Mad Dash

This weekend the TNNA has their Fall market in St. Charles, MO.  I planned to take off Friday morning, but my sister called and said she would go along, so we left after she got off of work Friday.  The drive was hampered by heavy rains, but we made it in and I was able to the meetings on Saturday morning before the opening of the show.
Below is one find that, if you are a Beatles fan, will delight you!
On its own, this is a very pretty design.  To discover that this is the second design in Blackbird Designs "Magical Mystery Tour" series was priceless!  So far, there are six designs.  The sixth, being "The Long and Winding Road" which is also the third in their Sewing Box series.
Along with attending the meetings, my goal was to have a moment to visit with the designers to enlist them for the "Village Home" series.  Hopefully, this will be a long term series with all of our favorite designers joining in.  I had the opportunity to make a few purchases besides the BBD series.  So much creativity in one place!!  I may have given as well as received some creative inspiration.  If I see that some of the designers are able to use ideas I offered while visiting them, I will be sure to point them out!!
We planned to be home in good time Saturday evening and left in the early afternoon.  I did not get the chance to talk with everyone on my list, but that is because they were busy when I stopped by and that is a good thing!  I am just grateful that I was able to catch some at the right moment as I had some very productive visits and you should see the results coming in the near future!

Village Home Series Sneak Peek

Above is the photo selected from the photographer for the cover of the chart "English Garden".  This beautiful design was created by Karen Kluba of Rosewood Manor.  Her statement, which accompanies the design, is "My Village Home would be in the middle of an English garden loaded with flowers".  "English Garden" is the first release in the new "Village Home" series sponsored by TSV.  The design is being published by Stitchers' Village Designs and will be available through shops.  Be sure to order from one of the great shops on The Stitchers' Village!  The chart is at the print shop and will be available September 1, 2014!
For a hint on the second design in the series, visit the Glendon Place Stitchers Facebook page.  Cheryl's "Best Friends Forever" is described in her statement:  "My Home in the Village is where best friends gather".  The chart will be published by Glendon Place.  "Best Friends Forever" will be released on October 1, 2014.
The call is still out for designers to participate and there are 8 designers who are working their artistic magic on a design for the series.  Keep an eye out for hints of the future design releases.  It is a great way to get to know the lovely designers behind your favorite stitching projects!!

Fabric Orphans

Ok, all is ready to go for the fabric orphanage this morning.  How, you ask, do I let go of these once they are in my possession?  It is difficult.  I have to press them before photographing.  This makes me really look at the colors and patterning of each piece and I can usually think of something that would be perfect to stitch on them.
What do you think of "Sedge"?

Would you say truly unique?  Homely?  That is part of the fun of the orphanage.  This time, I have attempted to give hints of color by providing a "DMC Color Hint" with corresponding DMC thread color numbers.  Monitors can vary greatly and, although I try to take pictures in natural light, it was cloudy yesterday.  I have also provided 2 sizes of larger images for each orphan.  Clicking on the thumbnail image on the page will take you to a slightly larger image.  Then, by typing LG after the name in the browser address, you are taken to an even larger image.  (example:  sledge.jpg becomes sledgeLG.jpg) I hope that helps with the decision making process, but it will slow it down a bit.  This event is fast and furious with people vying for the "most popular" orphans.  The majority of the fabrics are linen 28 this time and there are 24 orphans up for adoption.  Hope to see you there!  For info or to participate, see the orphan page at

Colorado

We went to Colorado for a few days of relaxation.  I was a bit surprised when I saw this sign driving down the lane to our hotel.  We have gone to the area a number of times and I had not seen any sign of bears before.  No worries, bears, I will be on my escape route before you have a chance to look for yours!!

Tangle

This is a good representation of how my mind feels at the moment.  When the first of the month rolls around and I have "finished" the newsletter, uploading the newsletter, sending the email, etc., I always have the doubt that I have done everything.  Did I put everything in the events calendar?  Did I post here, did I note there?  I am also, generally, inspired during this time as I look over what is happening in the Village.  The picture above shows the "orts" from the stitching of the first in the "Village Home" series of designs.  The designer statement which applies to this design is:

“My Village Home would be in the middle of an English garden loaded with beautiful flowers.”

Can you guess the designer?  If you would like to try and at the same time enter the August drawing, send an email with your name and address and designer name as the subject to: enter@stitchersvillage.com  by August 31, 2014.  There will be 3 names drawn to receive the first 3 designs (as they are released) of the "Village Home" series.  This is a series of designs from different designers to give an element or theme showing what their home in the village would encompass.  These will be very personal treats from some of your favorite designers.  The first release is coming September 1, 2014 and will be available for sale in the shops of TSV!!
